“Having worked with APSS on several refurbishment projects I find them a very easy company to work with. They have provided us with modern design solutions across different areas of our facility and have always been proactive in creating an environment that meets our needs. Projects are well managed, meeting timeline and budgetary constraints with a high-quality finish.”

Jason Harvey, Project Manager , Diasorin

The Brief

Biotechnology company Diasorin required an upgrade to its large open-plan office space to provide a contemporary workspace for staff, new boardroom and meeting rooms.

The design needed to make the most of the available natural light, reflect the company’s brand identity and zone the office space for key departments.

APSS has a strong working relationship with Diasorin, having previously worked with them to successfully deliver a refurbished reception area and canteen.

The Challenge

The space had not been updated since the 1980s and there were three key challenges:

As the office was fully operational, the work needed to be undertaken with minimal noise disruption. The work was carried out across two phases so the client could continue to operate and the noisier aspects of the project were carried out after hours to reduce the impact on the client.

The ceilings were at different heights which meant a new bulkhead needed to be installed to realign the height.

A design solution was needed for concealing all the power cables for the banks of office desks in the open plan area. To be able to hide these and keep the space tidy, false columns were installed to complement the existing and to neatly house the power cables from the ceiling to the banks of zoned desks.

The Outcome

Following a full design, renovation and fit-out, the space now showcases the client’s brand.

The result is a bright, streamlined, modern office space for staff and visitors alike; creating a more productive and efficient environment to enjoy working in. The stylish new boardroom provides a great space to impress customers during meetings and presentations.

The Details

APSS planned the work in two phases during the timeframe so that they could work around the operational office/staff with minimal disruption.

Biophilic touches were incorporated with leafy planters placed around the office to help the staff feel connected to the natural world, promoting a sense of calm and boosting well-being in the workplace.

The leadership team’s offices around the perimeter of the space were designed with glazed fronts to allow natural light to flood through from the external windows into the open plan office. In addition, the new boardroom includes a media unit and features angled-shaped glass for maximising natural light.

APSS created and installed brand and general signage around the office and supplied all the office furniture via its sister company TPS Office Furniture.
